It's a narrow, chilly valley where grapes fight for ripeness in most years and where the wines come out electric because of it. The Zilliken family has been working these slate slopes around Saarburg since the 18th century, and the estate is one of the Saar's true landmarks. This is their dry village level Riesling: no residual sugar to lean on, just slate, lime and cold climate acidity holding the whole thing
