Fabulous Velvet Mushroom Pin Cushion modern folk art though I find it hard

though I find it hard to think that anyone wearing such a fabulously bold yellow vest wouldn't have a fun-loving and adventuresome nature just waiting to bust out

2" across at base and 2 7/8" across at lip

This beautifully proportioned box I found filled with vintage matchbooks and a few newspaper clippings

showing the wood underneath (easily repaired) and there is a bit of loss of lacquer around the underside edge of the lid

It feels pretty ancient

Fabulous Velvet Mushroom Pin Cushion modern folk art though I find it hardThe existence of this oversized mushroom pin cushion makes me completely happy, and it could be even better with some stick pins stuck in it, perhaps carefully arranged to spell out a word or two across the expanse of its cap. I am not an expert on pin cushions so am not completely sure the age of this, but the velvet looks hand dyed hand painted to me, and the construction of the mushroom very carefully done, with tiny, barely visible hand stitches
