though it is so distinctive and beautifully decorated I think I'd be more inclined to treat it as a design object than to drink out of it--I  might put it to use as a small planter

To me it's like a three dimensional drawing, a beautiful interplay of lines in space. My favorite thing about it, though, may be its tension mounted door, which takes a strong pull to open, then closes with a very satisfying thwack! Definitely this could still be used to house a little
