Marvelous Isah Papialuk (Povungnituk Inuit) 1985 Carved Stone "Winged" Seal antique bone gaming chips 7" × 10ʺ and inAnother wonderful Inuit stone carving of a wonderful creature, this one I believe a seal with front flippers raised, I believe about to plunge into the sea, but looking equally as if it might take flight. Quite unusual portrayal, and just fabulous I think, done by Isah Papialuk (b. 1926), a well known Inuit artist (both for carvings and for prints) from Puvirnituq Povungnituk in northern Nunavik, northern Quebec, Canada. Signed (incised) and dated on
