whose last name I can't quite read

interestingly then that the mother was only halfway drawn on the page

Just like an antique pocket flask in miniature, this one dates to the late 19th century I believe, and I believe the body is silver plate, with leather covering the top half. Hinged at the shoulders, it is rather a satisfying thing to pop it open, with room for a handful of matches inside or a good secret
