Description
looking quite architectural stood on end
but this is about my favorite Inuit carving I've ever seen
On one side is a plan drawing
and would feature depictions of ships or sea creatures
I'd guess a school girl creation dating to the early 20th century or so
H.Sloan Maine Folk Art Bluebird 1940s pottery looking quite architectural stood onThis is not the first carved bird signed H. Sloan, Maine that I've found (all, like this one, found in Maine), but I haven't been able to find much of anything about him, and don't have a first name. Clearly he loved his birds though, and I might guess that living in Maine he had a particular affection for the bluebird, which he painted the best deep blue. 1980s or so I would guess and very sweet. 5 11 16" beak to tail; 3 1 8" t. Very good condition.
