Inscribed: 'Engraved by Thomson, from a Painting by Howard. Davies Gilbert, Esq. M. P. President of the Royal Society. London. Fisher Son & Co.. July 1, 1828.' With a facsimile signature Davies Gilbert was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1791. He served as President of the Royal Society 1827 1830. Original: stipple engraving. 1828
