Constructed of bronze gilt, with a voided tilted square in the centre, on a fixed loop and swivel ring for suspension from its period original ribbon with a leftward facing elongated dragon pinback suspension, the obverse with the letters C. R. E and the date 1900 in simulated Chinese character strokes, surrounded by the inscription Not to Conquer but to Save, the reverse number impressed 377,
