The Battle of Temple Bar Cuper's Pleasure garden The Duke of York's Column'The Battle of Temple Bar', 1769. A procession from the City to St James's Palace with an address by the City merchants to King George III in support of his government, has arrived at Temple Bar, where the gates have been shut to prevent their passage. Two decapitated heads can be seen speaking to each other on the top of Temple Bar.
