An 8Th Battalion, "Royal Rifles" Helmet Plate, C.1877 Auction Archive A Prussian Commemorative Cross 1866In die stamped patinated bronze, unmarked, measuring 78 mm (w) x 109. 5 mm (h), both lugs intact, contact marks evident on the "8", residue buildup overall in the recessed areas on the obverse, better than very fine. Footnote: The Royal Rifles of Canada originated in Quebec City, Canada East, on February 28, 1862, when The 8th Battalion, Volunteer Militia Rifles, Canada was authorized. It was re designated the 8th or Stadacona Volunteer Militia Rifles
