Constructed of gilded tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, with a central depiction of a sea mine exploding, the reverse with a barrel hinge and banjo style pinback meeting a round wire catch, designer marked OTTO PLACZEK, BERLIN and maker marked SCHWERIN,
